Thing 2: Online Communities & Personal Learning Networks

I've been having a great time exploring the tweets in the tlchat group! I particularly loved Kathy Kaldenberg's tweet giving the link to "Darien Library Does Gangnam Style" - my own children love this song and it's fun seeing it applied to a school library!  I also think I might use Sedley Abercrombie's idea for creating a holiday tree out of discarded books - adorable! I began following Kathy K since she seems to post a lot of fun tips for keeping the library "fresh", and am also following Donna Baumbach since she updates her list of recommended literacy & tech resources pretty often.

I had already set up a Twitter account while at a tech conference some time ago, but never really use it. This past year I also created a Twitter account for my MS library, but again - haven't used it. I think I may try to start taking advantage of some these great professional networking ideas!

  2. Yes! I've already implemented a couple of ideas that I found there. I'm finding that I need to build time into my schedule to routinely check in on some these tools (like my blog). I'm working on it :-)

  3. Nice! Good to hear you found stuff that you could put right to work. I struggle with getting into a routine with checking things too. So much info, so little time. I've given up feeling guilty if I don't keep up on everything, all the time.
